Built in 1859, The Morey House is the third oldest home still standing in Placerville. Built just 10 years after the gold rush and 10 years prior to the completion of the trans-continental railroad, GlenMorey Bed and Breakfast is a rare find at over 160 years old! It's original owner and builder, Dr. Isaac Titus, only stayed in the home 10 years before being elected to state senate. He then sold the home to Henry and Ellen Morey, who raised 3 children in the house while running a successful foundry business. One of their children also raised their family here. It had a number of private owners in the 1950s and 60s, before it became a bed and breakfast in 1977, and then a bio-marine consulting company in the 1990s. It was again a private home in 2001 when Tom and Alison Loeprich and mother, Maggie Smith, purchased it and returned it to bed and breakfast operation, so that many people could enjoy her history. The home contains a comfortable living room, cosy sitting room, inviting front porch, and 5 large guestroom suites, each with an adjoining private bath and wireless internet. We are a family-owned and operated small business in the traditional Bed and Breakfast style, but have adapted to many changes over the years...and appreciate your patronage! We offer a full breakfast cooked from scratch with the highest quality ingredients.
Tom and Alison Loeprich have been Innkeeping at GlenMorey house since 2001. They have a family of 4 children which have grown up in the home. Before becoming head chef at Glenmorey, Tom got his M.F.A.in Acting from Cal State Fullerton, where he met Alison who studied psychology and theater. They continue to be involved by acting in our local community theaters. Tom also enjoys adding to his ample vinyl record collection. Alison enjoys travelling as often as she can and loves reading and genealogy. Our children are now teenagers and help with the Inn when needed. You may meet our friendly family dog Lucas and somewhat more aloof cat Marmalade, or the new additions Luna and Asriel, none of which are allowed in the inn despite what they may tell you. We are dog friendly with condition that your pet does not disturb the peaceful atmosphere for other guests.
